The Filatov Institute is preparing for the second challenging winter. The Institute is the leading ophthalmological center in Ukraine and carries out extensive scientific research as well as providing medical help to 780 outpatients daily. Its in-patient facility has 450 beds, and, unfortunately, almost 40% of these are occupied by patients with mine-blast injuries.
The generator supplied in partnership with the Direct Relief Foundation was critical to ensure the operation of the food block, where hot food is provided daily to 450+ patients. Since summer 2023, Odessa has suffered from constant shelling, and massive blackouts are highly possible here.
Local press emphasized the importance of this humanitarian assistance and published an article and Facebook post about this donation.
